Even puppies want Christmas cookies! Gingerbread biscuits for your four-legged-friend.

Basil LOVES treats. I’m sure that’s a universal trait among dogs, but Basil has a very willing palate. He’ll try (almost) anything once! I was thinking about how at Christmas us humans get all kinds of yummy cookies, snacks and treats and thought, “why shouldn’t little buddy?” Thankfully, I found a super easy recipe that I could throw together in a matter of minutes. Plus, I had all of the ingredients on hand! (and if you’re curious, they are vegan as well! :))

Cooling

Gingerbread Biscuits
(recipe adapted from Rachael Ray)
1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
1/4 tsp ground ginger
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/8 cup canola oil
1/4 molasses

1. Preheat oven to 325. Lightly grease or line pan with parchment or silpat liner. In a large bowl, mix together flour, ginger and cinnamon. Add in the oil, molasses and 1/4 cup of water. Let rest for 15 minutes.
2. On a lightly floured surface, roll our the dough about 1/4-inch thick. Cut out cookies with desired cookie cutter. Transfer to cookie sheet.
Ready to bake!

Bake for 20 minutes. (or until firm) I got about 27 biscuits using a small bone-shaped cookie cutter.
Right out of the oven

Basil gave his approval right after I snapped this picture. Give your pets a little Christmas treat this year! Enjoy! Basil sure did. 😀
Waiting for his Christmas cookie!
