High Five for Friday

Happy Friday and Happy New Year! Can you even believe that it’s 2015 already? Wow. 2014 just seemed to soar right on by me! We hope that you had a fun (and safe) New Year’s Eve and a very wonderful Christmas!

Here are my top 5 for this week:

1. We took Olive to Camp Bow Wow on Monday. They have doggy “daycare” as well as boarding and other services. That girl has A LOT of energy, so we thought it might be nice for her to go every once and awhile to play with other dogs all day. She did super great (you can even watch your pup through their app!) and had so much fun. The best part? She was WORN OUT for the next day, too! This was her “new camper” picture, haha!

2. While Olive was away all day playing with her new friends, Nick and I were able to enjoy a day just kind of doing whatever we liked! Nick has been off work since noon on the 23rd, and it’s been so fun having him home! We went down to Iowa City and snagged one of our favorites, Oasis, for lunch. So, so good! YUM.
Oasis!

3. Nick and I collect Starbucks city mugs. I don’t really know how it got started, but now we can’t stop! It’s so fun to try and find them in new cities when we travel. We were never really sure how to display them, but Nick finally came up with a great idea. He mounted all the shelves and put everything up and I couldn’t be happier! Let the collection continue!

4. I think Olive has enjoyed having both of us home this past week and a half, and she is so excited that the sun is finally making a comeback! She is just too cute. (the Boba Fett toy was a gift for Christmas – she loved it so much, she completely destroyed it within 3 days.)

5. We went to the Trumpet Blossom Cafe for New Year’s Eve. Not only was the food DELICIOUS (as usual), but my date was the best part. 😉

Have a wonderful weekend!

High Five for Friday

Happy Friday! This week went by very quickly and I can’t believe it’s the weekend already! It was a great week, and here are my favorite things from this week:

1. Nick and I had tickets to see Mannheim Steamroller on Saturday night. It’s not Christmas for me without Mannheim’s Christmas music! It was a fun night out!

2. We had a meeting Sunday morning at church, so I baked an apple coffee cake to share with our committee. Yum!

3. Nick was out of town for work most of this week, and it was 40+ degrees warmer for him than it was for us back home. Olive was less than impressed. 😉

4. I was able to spend the day with my Lil Sis on Tuesday. ALL DAY! It was so fun! We went and played with puppies, ate falafel at Oasis, did a little shopping at the mall, and then watched a movie and had dinner at home. And every trip involves Target! Super fun times!

5. Olive was such a little snuggle bug with me the other night. She was just so sweet and cute. Until she dropped a few bombs. 😉 Good thing she’s cute.

Big plans for the weekend? Have something fun planned?

High Five for Friday

Wow, guys. It’s been crazy around here! 2 weeks ago the week completely got away from me and I didn’t even realize it was Friday until about 8:00 that night and I immediately thought, “Oh, no! I forgot to do a post this week!” And last week was Thanksgiving, and so I didn’t HAVE to worry about what day it was! 😉

Nick and I are in charge of tech and stage managing, respectively, for a show at our church this week with our acting group, Acts of Worship. We’ve had a really long week this week so far with ironing out details, getting the actors ready, and preparing for the unexpected! Last night was the first show, and we’re excited and praying God does amazing things and brings everyone LOTS of laughter with the next two performances!

Here are my top 5 for the week:

1. So this is technically from last Thursday, but we opted to skip the traditional fixings for Thanksgiving, and we made Green Bean Casserole Pizza from Bake & Destroy‘s cookbook. YUM.

2. Nick and I had ZERO plans for Black Friday, so we started our day with Starbucks Copycat Scones. Delish.

3. For lunch on Friday, we used up the rest of our Chipotle gift card to share some SOFRITAS (!! finally in Iowa!!) tacos. So, so good.
Sofritas! In Iowa! Finally!

4. We went for to a matinee at our local “cheap seats” theater to see “The Maze Runner”. I didn’t read the books like Nick did, but we were both excited to see it. I surprised myself by liking it, but I was a little mad with the ending.

5. We got our first batch of cookies from the Great Food Blogger Cookie Swap!! They were so chewy and tasty.

Have a fabulous weekend! What are your plans?

High Five for Friday

This week has brought cold, wind and snow. GROSS. And while I am usually the “no Christmas until after Thanksgiving” girl, but you know what? I LISTENED TO CHRISTMAS MUSIC. And I liked it. While I admit to the Christmas music, I still stand firm on my hating the cold and snow.

Here are my top 5 for this week:

1. We had a meeting on Sunday morning for an upcoming marriage event we’re on the leadership team for. I made mini donuts from the new Fork & Beans cookbook. DELISH! They were a hit!

2. Nick captured one of my favorite pictures EVER the other day. This pic of Olive is awesome. THOSE TEETH. (excuse part of my giant head)
Those TEETH.

3. Speaking of Olive, we had to buy her a new bed because she’s growing like a weed, that one. I think she likes what we chose for her. 😉
The sweetest.

4. I love this shot that I got on Veteran’s Day. So thankful for all of their sacrifices!
Happy Veteran's Day

5. I caught up with a great friend for lunch yesterday. We’ve both been so busy lately, and so it was SO great to chat, laugh and share life together. Love her!

Big plans this weekend? Olive starts Intermediate training classes on Saturday. She’ll be so excited to see her trainer again. She loves him. 🙂
